Collection P-40 - North Weald Airfield, Essex 2nd June 2013
Comment - After many months of hard work stripping four layers of paint
in preparation for its new colours, Peter Teichmanís Hangar 11 Collection
unveiled P-40M Kittyhawk G-KITTís latest paint scheme on Sunday June 2nd at
North Weald, Essex. After wearing markings applied for the filming of George
Lucasí Red Tails movie for a few seasons, it was time for a change and now
the aircraft is in the colours of the then Lt Philip Adairís P-40 from the
80th Fighter Groupís 89th Fighter Squadron based in the Assam Valley in the
India/Burma theatre in 1943. The aircraft itself was named ĎLulu-Belleí
after a girl Adair new from back in the States.
The event was announced via the Collectionís new facebook page and was a
great opportunity to see not only the P-40 up close but also the
Collectionís other aircraft, the icing on the cake being a display from
Peter in Lulu-Belle.
